Islamic Help was founded by a group of young people to provide assistance to people affected by natural disasters. The UK-based group has so far worked in more than twenty countries and expanded its focus to poverty alleviation, education, health care, sustainable livelihoods and women’s empowerment. They aim to deliver sustainable solutions that empower people in need. Islamic Help especially targets devout Muslims who wish to fulfil their religious obligations of donations.
In Tanzania, Islamic Help teaches beekeeping to villagers, especially women, to empower them to break out of poverty. They see beekeeping as a simple but effective way to increase income and help people to become self-sufficient. So far, they have trained over 4,800 people from five villages in beekeeping methods, providing them with tools and know-how.
